It’s widely accepted that local searches represent between 25% - 60% of all Internet search (implicit or explicit). In July 2006, ComScore research found that 63% of U.S. Internet users (or approximately 109 million people) perform at least one local search online per-month, a 43% increase over July of 2005.
While more than 80% of all these local searches are conducted on Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Superpages.com and YellowPages.com, it’s thousands of local, niche or vertical sites that provide the data.
