Local Search Solutions Guide to the Local Search Industry
Description
"Local Search Solutions Guide to the Local Search Industry."
The business of “local” represents the fastest growing segment of Internet search and marketing, which itself is the fastest growing medium in the history of advertising. According to the Kelsey Group, through 2010 U.S. online advertising spending is projected to grow by 22% per-year, to 27.3 billion dollars. The local search market is expected to grow by 42%, to 6.2 billion dollars. Globally, the local opportunity will grow to 13 billion dollars by 2010.
It’s widely accepted that local searches represent between 25% - 60% of all Internet search (implicit or explicit). In July 2006, ComScore research found that 63% of U.S. Internet users (or approximately 109 million people) perform at least one local search online per-month, a 43% increase over July of 2005.
While more than 80% of all these local searches are conducted on Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Superpages.com and YellowPages.com, it’s thousands of local, niche or vertical sites that provide the data.
This inclusive guide represents the organizations involved within the local search industry. It includes local, niche and national properties; service, technology and data providers; associations; links to relevant sites as well as the most recent research and news.
