Our thumbnails are provided by DomainTools.com. If a page is showing an incorrect thumbnail, or an outdated thumbnail, or not showing a thumbnail at all, it is possible to refresh thumbnails:
- Open the AboutUs page for the website. for example, www.AboutUs.org/Example.com
- Look for the Website Information badge. It's usually on top.
- Click on the DomainTools.com link.
- Click queue thumbnail for update or addition link to the right of the page.
- If you've updated several thumbnails already, this option may not show. Try again after a while.
- Or - if your website is on a server farm, DomainTools.com may need to be individually requested to update - please send and email to us at
- The thumbnail has now been queued to be updated. This can take up to a half an hour, but once it has been updated, the AboutUs.org page for this domain should have the new thumbnail.
- If the thumbnail doesn't update, visit AboutUs live chat, and ask staff to 'purge' the page for you. (purge is reseting the page in our system)
- The update-thumbnail request at Domain Tools can be made once in a while, up to weekly or as long as monthly, and you know when the last request was made by checking the date above the thumbnail. For example: Thumbnail: 2007-04-19 (keep in mind the initial call to create the thumbnail was probably made automatically.)
(As of 14 Nov 08, this worked fine in FireFox 3.0, but not in IE 7.0 -- no thumbnail or update thumbnail link is visible in IE 7.0.)
