Difference between revisions of "PortlandTech/Review Process"

Review articles in PortlandTech according to the following guidelines. If the page meets all of these requirements, add Category:PortlandTechDoneDone. If not:

• Add Category:PortlandTechNeedsWork
• Add the page (wikilinked) to the alphabetically ordered list on the top of Category:PortlandTechNeedsWork
• Write a short description of what needs to be done next to the page name

Domain Pages

1) PortlandTech Badge

• Make sure it is included in the domain box (if not, then add it to the domain template: badge={{PortlandTechMember}}|)

2) Header

• Should read as company name (could be logo if the name is prominent - see 2)

3) Logo (Domain only)

• Reasonably sized in upper left hand corner, under title. If the company name is prominent, it is acceptable to use the logo in place of a header title

4) Description

• An original and full description that gives a specific idea of what the company does without going deeply into products and services (this should be reserved for the next section). 2-7 sentences is sufficient as long as the description is effective.
  • NOTE: if the page is a bot scrape (indicated by Excerpted from website), then the description will need to be re-written

5) Products and Services

• List of links with a single sentence description for each (internal links are preferred in cases where we have a page (domains, for instance), although external may be used). Use of images (in moderation!) is a plus - if more than 1 or 2 is used, it should be in a gallery.
  • Note: title of this section may be 'Products and Services', but if there is a more specific name that is better ('Web Design', for instance, is the product/service of a web design company)

6) Address and Contact Info

• Filled out and in separate sections. If either is blank, check the website to see if it is there. If no info. can be found, then leaving these blank is acceptable.

7) People

• A list of major people in the company, with images if possible (put into a gallery). Names should be wikilinked and title included.

8) News

• List of recent news items with links, ordered with most recent up top
  • NOTE: Format should be as follows:
  • NYTimes.com: Article Title 12/10/07

9) Related Domains

• Look over to see that they make sense (no need to check through on each)

10) External Links

• Should include any other relevant external links not mentioned above

11) Categories

• Make sure the page is correctly categorized to fit into the PortlandTech folksonomy. Make sure information on location is included as well.

Person Pages

1) PortlandTech Badge

• Upper right hand corner

2) Header

• Page title is sufficient for naming (delete extra title if it is present)

3) Company(s) and Position

• Should read as follows:

Company: Extensis

Position: CEO

4) Work History (if available)

• Brief work history written in your own words.
  • NOTE: this should be wikilinked wherever possible (all past company names, for instance)

5) Other info

• Any other info. deemed relevant

6) Categories

• The page should include:
  • Category:Person
  • Category:Position (a category tag for their job title, or multiple tags if they have multiple positions)
  • Category:Location
