Warren C. Stout M.D., a nationally known laser surgeon, divides his practice time between his Pasadena office and the USC Doheny Refractive Laser Medical Center. Dr. Stout founded the laser vision correction center at USC, prior to the FDA approval of laser vision correction. USC received its first excimer laser in 1988, long before anyone else, because they were tasked with conducting the FDA studies in laser vision correction. The FDA eventually approved laser vision correction in 1995 after evaluating the results of studies done at USC and a number of other universities. Dr. Stout then opened the laser center for use by private patients instead of restricting its use to research patients.
Dr. Stout completed his internship in Internal medicine and his residency specialty training in Ophthalmology at USC. Following this, he went on to do advanced Fellowship subspecialty training in plastic surgery of the eyes and face at the University of Miami. U.S. News & World Report has rated this program number one in the nation.
Dr. Stout has been at the forefront of advances in laser surgery and was the first ophthalmic plastic surgeon in the country to use the advanced Sharplan Feathertouch Laser for laser skin resurfacing and eyelid rejuvenation.
