Holidays in Glenlivet and Speyside, Scotland

Enjoy stunning mountain, river and loch scenery in Speyside. The source of the River Spey lies high in the Monadhliath Mountains just beyond Loch Spey and close to the Corrieyairack Pass in the Cairngorms National Park. The Spey passes by Grantown on Spey, through Aberlour and flows on to Spey Bay on the Moray Firth coast. All along its route, it is joined by tributaries like the Avon. A beautiful journey through delightful landscape with Whisky distilleries at almost every bend in the river.

Additional Information

Where to stay to enjoy this stunning landscape? Bluefolds Holiday Cottages has four 4 star cottages which sleep 2-8 depending on the cottage. They are stone built on a hillside with panoramic views to the mountains in the Cairngorms National Park. Pet friendly. Ideal area for walking on the trails on the Glenlivet Estate (varying from short walks by the River Livet to strenuous walks over the hills) or on the hill behind Bluefolds Cottages. From the cottages most days it is possible to see Roe Deer in the fields and on the hills around along with buzzards and kestrels. In spring curlew nest near the cottages and oystercatchers on the way to them. There are a colony of rabbits living in a complex burrow system on the road up to the cottages. Everywhere you look there are birds and animals. The cottages are on a farm which means that you can also see sheep and lambs in spring and cows and calves. It is easy to travel the quiet roads to visit Whisky distilleries (Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, Cardhu, Glen Grant, Aberlour, Glenfarclas to name a few); castles (Ballindalloch, Balmoral, Fyvie, Crathes, Castle Fraser, Balvenie, Auchindoun, Drumin, Huntly to name just a few); tour our moray coast beaches and villages including Findhorn, Burghead, Hopeman, Lossiemouth, Cullen, MacDuff to Pennan.
