The Zone is a state at which the metabolism and body work at peak efficiency. That state is achieved by eating a particular ratio of 40 % carbohydrates, 30% protein, and 30% fat. At a practical level, this translates into a combination of a small amount of low-fat protein at every meal, fats, and carbohydrates in the form of fiber-rich vegetables and fruits.
