Yes, they have played better last year and so far in 2008, but it’s impossible to know what could have been with Phoenix during the ‘05 through the rest of his prime. Joe Johnson did get a big paycheck for leaving, which he was worried he wouldn’t get if he stayed. Phoenix got Boris Diaw and two 1st round draft picks for Johnson, which didn’t work out too well. Diaw averages less minutes than both Matt Barnes and Grant Hill, but makes more than 3 times their total salaries. Johnson is playing much better and has made Atlanta respectable now. The Suns could also care less about those draft picks because they regularly auction first rounders off on NBA-ebay to the highest paying team. Plenty of people have criticized the Suns for this already, but they basically ruined their future by selling those picks.
