JALO Ammunition Depot, Myambat

While on our road trip last December, we camped at Ben Boyd National Park on the coast near Eden in south-eastern New South Wales. It was a beautiful, isolated spot that we'd never heard of before. While driving through the park to our camp site at Disaster Bay, we drove past an imposing looking chain link fence, interrupted by a large gate with a sign proclaiming 'JALO Depot, Operated by ADI Ltd'. The roads up until this point were well sealed, and there was evidence of large trucks using them. Our best guess as to what a "JALO Depot" is was something to do with mining. "How typical to put a mine right in the middle of a national park," we thought.
