BUSINESS PROFILE... by Jim Woodard - - Melinda Baker, along with her daughter, Shaun Soprano, have owned and operated a small but notably successful Web design company in Ventura for the past six years. It's called Webfoot Studios and is at 5500 Telegraph Road, Suite 139.
The idea for the business was sparked by Baker's son, Greg, a partner in a Java software development company in San Francisco. He thought his mother and sister could do very well in an Internet-related business and asked them to create some graphics for his company's Web site. Their assignment turned out well, motivating the mother and daughter to launch their business.
"Our studio originally filled a niche serving newspaper online programs and their Web site projects," Baker said. "We then expanded our client base to include the city of Oxnard, the Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association and Ventura County Culligan, to name just a few clients."
