WEEKDAY EMERGENCY TRAINING OFFERED JUNE 26-29, 2006

The Fresno Citizen Corps, in partnership with the City and County of Fresno and the United Way, is pleased to announce that Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training will be offered in a Monday through Thursday daytime series from June 26-29. The 20-hour course sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security-Office of Domestic Preparedness, and developed by FEMA in cooperation with the Los Angeles Fire Department, is designed to provide basic emergency response skills, particularly those that would be essential in the initial hours after a major disaster. This weekday schedule has been developed at the request of local leaders in business, community-serving organizations and the faith community. It was designed to allow rapid completion of the course, and will also include information on preparedness and continuity of operations planning for businesses, organizations and houses of worship. There is no registration fee and all printed course materials will be provided, however, participants will be required to bring some personal protective equipment, such as leather and latex gloves, safety glases, etc. All classes, except the Fire Safety and Suppression module, will be at the United Way of Fresno County at 4949 East Kings Canyon Avenue near Chestnut.

Important Note: *There will be 30 minutes of business continuity planning information provided at the end of each afternoon CERT module from approximately 3:00-3:30 p.m. Also, in order to keep the schedule as tight as possible, there will be a lunch break each day for only 30 minutes.

Space is limited—registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-reserved basis. To register, complete the attached application and return it to:
