Description
The group of "Solar Assemblages" known as "Viva" was begun by Patrick Ryan in January 1971. The seeds of the work were "relativity" and "Surrealism." Albert Einstein, Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray showed the way. Roy Fridge, Ryan's professor of Art at the University of Oklahoma, supported and encouraged Ryan. In 2005, Ileana Marcoulesco proposed writing a book about the paintings, but for the moment, Ryan's paintings can only be seen in our galleries. Every week we will mount a new painting for you to see.
