Vimax Ltd. was founded in the late 90's and was originally an IT consultancy company. It was reinvented around 3 years ago when the brothers and cofounders, Gary and Paul Wilson, decided to use it as a vehicle for marketing and selling the Talking Kone.
The Kone (pronounced "Cone") was invented about 5 years ago by Paul, an electrical and electronics engineer by trade. His inspiration came from two events involving his family. On one occasion, a relative made a successful accident claim against an Essex store following a nasty trip over an unmarked hazard. Paul soon realized that conventional signage was, in many situations, not providing adequate warning against hazards and therefore accidents and the resulting claims.
The first prototypes of the Kone were developed and perfected with the help of several early adopters in the market. One of these was the Eastgate Shopping Centre in Basildon, Essex. Eastgate have been using the Kone (and more recently the Talking Box) for nearly two years. This exercise provided us with lots of valuable feedback which, in turn, resulted in several new features and an improved product.
