Description
The Village of Oblong is a non-home rule unit which operates under a commission form of government. The Village Board is comprised of the Mayor and six Trustees, four are elected for four-year terms and two are elected for two-year terms. The Village Clerk and the Village Treasurer are appointed with the consent of the Village Board.
The Village Board meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. Each Trustee is chairperson of a committee. The six committees are: Police, Finance, Water/Sewer, Building/Park, Street/Alley and Sidewalks/Lights.
There are currently 10 permanent and five part-time employees. The Village has a working budget of approximately $1,034,458 (FY2001-2002). The population of the Village is 1580.
