In 2000 the Victims Unit was established within the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister following the recognition that over the previous 30 years and more the needs of the victims of the conflict had not been addressed.
When the Victims Unit was set up, we set about developing a cross-departmental strategy to address the needs of victims' groups and individuals.The resulting document, "Reshape, Rebuild, Achieve" (PDF 92.8 KB, 36 pages) (opens in a new window)
We have been keen to develop contacts and good working relationships with the groups representing victims throughout Northern Ireland. All the groups we deal with have a designated contact person with whom they liase with if they have any queries or wish to discuss any concerns on victims' issues.
