About Vestige.org
This site was launched in February of 2000 with the goal of showcasing my fiction, poetry, and photography. Like most such websites, it was fairly boring. For a while it was a weblog, mostly dealing with Canadian politics, which was easy to ignore, as Canadian politics are fairly easy to ignore. Then I rebuilt it so that it would look trendy, and it almost did look trendy, but really it had no focus. Now, in its most orange incarnation, Vestige.org is once again essentially a weblog, this time about literature, which is not boring and for me at least is rather difficult to ignore.
This weblog, aside from keeping me mostly out of trouble (seriously, the last thing you want is a book geek roaming the streets at night; the damage we can cause with our tweed alone is quite impressive) and allowing me to keep my writing skills sharp, is part and parcel of my not-so-secret agenda to reform the writing of and about Canadian literature. I have written what is sort of a manifesto, but more of speech, about what I think our relationship with literature and art in general should be.
Right now I'm in the process of rebuilding Vestige.org, with its older bits being archived so that they can be examined as they slowly collect dust. They will not be updated. I apologize if some things have gotten moved around; that was something I could not avoid.
