Velo la Source Alpine Cycling Adventures
Description
Velo la Source is the result of a happy meeting between cyclists Adam Weisman and Rebecca Taylor and ski guide and chalet innkeeper Michael Baldwin. Unenthused by the dozens of European cycling holidays that move at a furious pace from hotel to hotel across the Alps each summer, Americans Weisman and Taylor decided to create their own slower-paced vacation.
To do so, they based themselves at Englishman Michael Baldwin's la Source chalet in Villard-Reculas and rode out each day from there to the most celebrated alpine routes of the Tour de France. Among the climbs within easy striking distance of la Source are l'Alpe d'Huez, les Deux Alpes, Col de Lauteret, Col du Galibier, Col du Telegraphe, Col du Glandon, Col de la Madeleine, Col de la Croix de Fer, and Sestriere. Weisman and Taylor's week of rigorous cycling, sightseeing, delicious chalet dining, fine wines, and nights of quiet mountain sleep was so successful, they have teamed with Baldwin to share their experience with fellow cyclists seeking a week of great cycling and memorable times in the French alps.
