As you may know, Internet Explorer 6 does not support fixed positioning. I recently was working on a website where fixed positioning was needed. When I tested the site in Firefox it looked great, but in IE6 it rendered terribly. It turns out that since IE doesn’t understand fixed positioning, it automatically sets that elements position to static. This means that the element is located in the top-left corner of the page, and to top it off it doesn’t even stay fixed when you scroll. It would be better if the element would at least be positioned absolutely. After searching google and piecing together information I have come up with a fix that positions and element using absolute if the browser does not understand fixed positioning. Here is the code:
