The Mount St. Helens Valley Bugler is written and published by Bill& Candy Richey of Castle Rock, Washington. They are both active Kiwanis Club of Mount St. Helens members.
“I was borh with an exacto knife in my mouth, not a silver spoon,” quips Candy. When she was small her parents newspaper was called the “Rocket Express”. They also published the “Orange County Community Woman”. Candy’s own first publication was the “East San Diego County Magazine” which she published for over four years. She also worked for Copley Newspapers in San Diego, “Center City News” and “San Diego Voice and Viewpoint”. Since moving to Washington, she was the writer and photographer for the “Rainier Review” as well as a writer and photographer for the other Sternwheeler publications. In 1995 she began publishing “Business to Business” a publication promoting the newest technologies in the computer industry. 1996 saw the first newspaper that she and husband Bill put out together, “The Mount St. Helens Volcanic Quarterly”,
They have been operating the Mount St. Helens Portrait Studio since 1996. Her other photo credits include staff photographer for the San Diego Padres and United Photographic where she won studio photographer of the year award. She also won the Art Directors Choice Award of Excellence from the Professional Photographers of America for a commercial photographic piece
