UUCLC Overview
The Unitarian Universalist Church of Las Cruces is a diverse group of religious independents seeking knowledge, spiritual sustenance, fellowship and service to others. We're pleased to provide this overview of our dynamic church and our rapidly developing area of Southern New Mexico. Our church is creating a rich and ever-expanding program of worship, religious education, social activity, and caring support. We're building our numbers, our community, our facilities, and our future, as we work to amplify the UU presence in this part of the Sunbelt.
Our roots are sunk deep in the sunny Mesilla Valley, a beautiful agricultural area carved into the Chihuahuan desert by the Rio Grande. Las Cruces and Dona Ana County are home to New Mexico State University, government defense and aerospace facilities, rich agriculture, increasing numbers of retirees, gorgeous mountain and desert vistas, and some of the best chile (the pepper) in the world.
The church's growth has been slow but steady, and we now boast a membership exceeding 150. We recently welcomed a large group of new members and interested friends, the culmination of introductory classes about Unitarian Universalism. Our goal is to become a mid-sized church of approximately 250 members.
