Know India 101 August 26 – September 10, 2008 (Between summer and fall quarters) In this 14 day academic experience, participants will get to know the ancient city of Varanasi on the Ganges and explore India’s history, religions, daily life, values, art, and medicine with faculty from Banaras Hindu University. Each day, a morning lecture and corresponding afternoon field trip will cover a different aspect of Indian culture. Students will practice yoga with a skilled yogini, attend classical music and dance performances, and visit the Taj Mahal and Sarnath where Buddha preached his first sermon.
