User talk:Jeking
Hi Jeking! Welcome to aboutus :-) Great job on cleaning up the UPS.com page. Are you the James King who is the owner of the CustomCreationsUnltd.com domain? If you leave a response on User_talk:Brandon_CS_Sanders I'll spot it faster. Warm Regards Brandon
- Wow! I've been looking at your custom photo blankets! Those are so cool :-) I know what I'm getting for my mom for her next birthday! -- Brandon
Thanks Brandon. The Photo Blankets are very cool. I'm obviously biased but we sell a ton of them around Christmas time. You won't be disappointed! When you're ready to order, drop me an email,
and I'll pass along a coupon for you to use.
Thanks,
Jim
New and Correct
- Yes, I'm the same James King. I hope what I did and the way I did it is correct. I'm still very new at this.
You're doing fantastic Jim! It really is impossible to mess anything up permanently, we have a Revision History for every page and we can help you get things back while you're learning. So feel free to experiment and try things out. AND, what you've done so far is correct because your heart is in the right place. That is the most important part. As long as you are trying to add value to the site everything you do is correct :-)
I've started writing a Tutorial Tour Of Wiki, but it is pretty rough. Even though it is a work in progress, you might find it helpful. I'd welcome your thoughts, questions, revisions, help with it.
Good, thanks for letting me know. How do you prevent someone from just completely messing things up? I mean, if someone wanted to edit my articles and add profanity or such.
Hi Jim, just saw your message. Basically in wiki we AssumeGoodFaith and that works most of the time. Occasionally someone does come in and mess things up. The community then cleans up that mess by patrolling RecentChanges, which happens daily. Let me know your thoughts on that. Best, MarkDilley
Mark, Thanks for your reply and yes, it does make sense. I guess if you have enough people patrolling, it generally won't be much of an issue. Jeking
PS Why does my signature, Jeking, contain the edit fucntion as part of the rul but yours doesnt?
- Hi Jim, there are several different kinds of pages. The first kind is a normal article like Brandon or Jeking. A second kind is a user article like User:Brandon CS Sanders or User:Jeking. The user article has a little extra functionality associated with it in the toolbox in the left side (for example user contributions and email this user). If you click on Brandon, I've edited that article to "redirect" to User:Brandon CS Sanders. You can do the same by editing Jeking and adding the text #REDIRECT [[User:Jeking]] ... let me know if this makes sense and works for you :-) -- Brandon
- Brandon, it works like a charm. Thanks for the explanation! Jeking
