Hello!

Hi Alan, glad to have you back in this space :-) Our help is ever changing, you can get an overview of it at HelpIndex. Any suggestions you have, I would love to hear about better ways to do stuff. Best, MarkDilley

also, did you check out the WikiTour?

Daft question Mark: How do I reply? By editing like this?

Alan, you can reply like that, I just don't get immediate notice, like if you replied on my talk page. But I would probably notice this within a day. wiki is still kinda new, so no question is daft! especially that one :-) Best, MarkDilley
yes, wiki is odd and always changing. There is someone working on building a threaded talk page for wiki. I am glad you like the place and am very interested in learning how you think it is / is not valuable. Best, MarkDilley

A threaded talk page makes a lot of sense - if only from the point of view of the logic I mentioned. See some great things here, and some not so great, but interested in getting involved to see where it goes. I'm guessing, forgive me if I'm wrong, you like me have been on the Internet since the days of newsgroups, no WWW, and 2400 baud modems (I thought that was fast!)? Upside, I love the 2.0 idea, I really do..... But, every advance takes no time at all to get swamped by spam, charlatans, porn, MLM, and Nigerians who have 10 million in a bank account they need the help of a complete stranger to free up for a % etc. etc...... Don't get me wrong I am interested, and really do love the whole open idea / 2.0 - but what stops it going the same way? I just saw the 'recent visitors' page and see this.... What stops the 'pharmaceuticals' spammers adding themselves to the related links on our pages....

If you remember my earlier messages to you, you´ll remember me as a cynic. Still waiting to be converted, and the optimist in me wants to believe... :-)

Alan, I do remember :-) - I actually was pessimistic about the web until I found wiki, the original one PortlandPatternRepository, and was impressed by people using their real names, being constructive and building knowledge. That was 2002, I never could figure out forums or bbs systems, too much of a non techy.. :-) So my optimism for wiki is still strong after 6 years, hoping it continues! ~~ MarkDilley
