- Big Meanie (delighted) : This friendly, free website is a great place to barter your unnecessary tech gear, electronics or anything you'd like to rid yourself of, in exchange for an item you find more useful. You can alsoarrange to purchase or sell items privately, with other members, as long as you do it in a privately. (Private messaging is available, as is e-mailing other members and they can't see your e-mail adress if you are contacting them through the forum's e-mail link.). . This community has no formal affiliation with the well-known ecommerce site, www.woot.com . It was started by a couple of early wooters as a place to trade items that were impulsively purchased on woot.com and a couple of other copycat "One Day, One Deal" websites like www.Midnightbox.com (now, www.icraveit.com , I think?). . The owner/admin/mods make no money from the site and there are no fees. You can read it without joining, but to post items, you must sign up. It is an easygoing, friendly group of people, as long as you don't try to screw with anyone. Then you'll be sorry. There are tips in the 411 section about how to conduct transactions and to my knowledge, there are no incidents of anyone being cheated, just an occasional troublemaker, but they are weeded out quickly by members and the site owners take action pretty quickly. . The community seems to self-moderate, but the administrators get alerts and are easily contacted, should problems arise. 12:13, 5 March 2008 (PST)
