I got involved on About Us because one day I was searching for "Child Modelling Agencies" on Google and I got a link to "www.aboutus.org/childmodellingsites.com" ChildModelingSites.com.
When I clicked on that link, I got the shock of my life. A thumbnail of little girls posing in their underwear like women out of a porn movie. I wanted to vomit. I was very upset, did I just accidentally access child porn on About Us? (it is now cleaned up so you won't have to see what I saw).
I tried the "related Links" on the website and linked from one child porn site to the next sometimes finding links to pro-pedophile sites like Nambla.org and ChildLover.org. First, I reported these sites to the FBI.
Then, I contacted MarkDilley and he was very concerned. We agreed to develop a system to tag these wiki pages and delete the thumbnails, child explotative language and pedo content. After much work, we have come up with the new Tag for Adult Content.
We also decided that it would be good to add a Template at the top of each of these pages warning adults and children of the content so that they don't just click the thumbnail without knowing what is really there as many of the "Description Pages" of these wiki are intentionally written to sound different from what the actual content is, e.g. "the best child models on the net" links you to child porn and "We are a human rights group" links you to a site that is run by a self confessed pedophile which promotes and discusses how to make legal sex between adults and little girls.
To warn people who access these Wikis, I started: {{PedophiliaWarning}}.
If you feel your site has been tagged with this warning unfairly, please feel free to leave me a message an we can investigate the claim and give you a chance to defend the content on your site for a community review.
Please feel free to access these pages and add your comments under the discussion section. Mark explained to me that this Wiki is supposed to be a community place where we can make the site better for all involved and I hope you will join me and support protecting children (and adults) from distrubing images and content that exploits them.
One last note. In my research into how pedophiles work and how they are becoming activists and using the internet to reach children and convince adults of their need to exist legally in society, I have found there are several people who are fighting to stop this as we are here on About Us.
