We collect raw data from more than a thousand public offices, coast to coast. The real work begins when we take the responsibility to correct the misinformation that arises in the public record and prepare the information for easy accessibility.
We collect information describing property location, ownership, use, building characteristics and other structures on the property. Tax assessed value and tax payment information is obtained from tax assessor offices in counties throughout the US. This information is usually collected once each year immediately following annual property tax assessment.
We collect information listing property sales, transfers and financing from the recorder or registrar of deeds in each county. A typical record describing a property sale or transfer will include the name and address of the buyer and seller, the sale amount, and the date in which the sale is recorded in the public record. A record describing a mortgage loan will contain the name and address of the borrower(s), the name of the mortgage lender, the amount of the loan, and general information about the type of mortgage (for example, if the interest rate on the loan is fixed or adjustable). This information is collected daily and is used to update the ownership records obtained from tax assessor offices.
