I had some issues with my host (and paying for it), but I am back in action for the new year. 2005 was a very solid year for music (check out the ufcktop25 of 2005 that I worked on), and there is even more coming in 2006. The new Belle & Sebastian, The Life Persuit, is a contender already for record of the year; the chamber pop front-runners bring it to the fullest once again, especially with tracks like 'Another Sunny Day'. Another release that I'm anticipating is Sun, Sun, Sun from Rilo Kiley's Blake Sennett's other group, The Elected. Check out a more alt-country, but still damn poppy, sound from Sennett with 'Fireflies In A Steel Mill'. That's all for now, please check back soon.
Well, hello there loyal listeners (or readers). It's time for an update (Oh, joy!). Thanks to the ~4 people who visit here a day, you really do keep me going and stuff. Hey! It's October, that means only a few months until its time to pick the always exciting Albums of this year. I'll give you some more canidates besides those already mentioned (See My Morning Jacket, Sharon Jones, Caitlin & Thad, Zion I and more listed in previous entries.). I'll start with something fun. Its a great track, 'Stripes', from the new record, Hell's Winter, from hip-hopper Cage. Next, a terribly under-noticed record from this year is Alligator from The National, and it's very difficult to pick one track, even two, but I'll just do two, but buy the whole damn record: 'Lit Up' and 'Secret Meeting'. Another great album of a similiar sound is Apologies to the Queen Mary from Wolf Parade. One of my favorite tracks off it is 'Grounds for Divorce', but it's another one worth picking up. Finally, as a little bonus, a sneak preview of the new Josh Ritter record expected out in Spring 2006: 'Thin Blue Flame'. Later dudes.
Wow, nine days isn't too bad for me. The little counter at the bottom of this page inspired me to update since it has hit quite a milestone. I'll get right into the swing of things. Ryan Adams has a new record out September 27th, and it is awesome, as you should have imagined. Listen to 'Hard Way To Fall' from Jacksonville City Nights. Next, Cameron Crowe, director of "Say Anything" and "Almost Famous", has his next film, "Elizabethtown", set for a mid-October release. As with most of his movies, the soundtrack is amazing. 'Where to Begin' is a new track from My Morning Jacket featured on the soundtrack. For you folk fans out there, here is 'Raindrops In My Coffee' from the first release by the singer-songwriter duo Ron Sexsmith & Don Kerr, Destination Unknown. Finally, this entries "SingAlong" entry will feature some great tracks from some of my favorite hip-hop artists, check them out.
