Description

The Tunisian Community Center

Out of the desire to address the cultural needs of the Tunisian-American population that is scattered across the United States, a cohesive national network of local Chapters was formed that constitutes the Tunisian Community Center.

Since 1999, the federation had afforded an address for Tunisian Americans as well as an institution that promotes their healthy acculturation.

A secular and politically neutral, private, volunteer organization, the Tunisian Community Center is dedicated to community building and cultural outreach. It is governed by a Board comprised of the founding directors and the regional coordinators. The Board is supported by an Advisory Committee made up of prominent individuals from academia, business and the arts.

Cyber Connectivity

The federation functions as a virtual community center, thanks to its website and its newsletter, along with its teleconferencing account and its toll free custom phone number.

Community Based Activities

The cyber connectivity is supplemented by community-based, cultural (in-reach and out-reach) programs at the local chapters level. Our flagship event is at the National level: the annual “Tunisian American Day". Held in a different US city each year, it is celebrated during a “Hafla”, or gala, that coincides with the birthday anniversary of Ibn Khaldun (May 27th).
