- Both of these promise exciting times in Debian over the next few month, hopefully making Debian fun again. The stable release means many of the bad press comments will stop, or switch back to the usual ubuntu bashing. But more importantly, much of sid will transition into testing and experimental will transition manually into sid. Lots of new package updates coming. Also, since it’s the beginning of a release cycle, new initiatives will be taken to make the next release the best yet, such as supporting multiple init schemes and most importantly improving the quality of packaging. The new project leade’s platform looks very promising (althouth the previous 2 I voted for also looked interesting but failed miserably to delivery any big reforms). Hopefully the fun will start with some interesting announcements in the next few days.
