The Spiritual: Journal of Natural Spirituality: Home
Description
The Spiritual has a humble origin. It so happened that a small group of spiritual practitioners, if you can call them that, in India decided to share some of the information and available texts for the benefit of all the people. It is always hard to put spiritual wisdom in words as it goes very opposite to its essence – the thoughtless brain in harmony with the nature. There was no need, as such, to make such an attempt though. That is what happens with most natural spiritual existences, they exist so subtly that we pass them millions of times without noticing anything yet benefiting from their divine guidance.
This web site is currently developed, managed and edited by Vivek Sharma in Melbourne, Australia. Vivek was a young member of the group for a few years before he came to Australia in 1999. While his stay in India, the group had decided to translate and convert some of the texts and teachings of guruji, Rao Maharaj, into a book called “The Grey Matter Revolution – A Journey Within”. The full text of GMR was then hosted on a sub-account from India. From there, it kept moving from server to server, mainly free servers such as Tripod because it did not have any commercial support. Last year, it again became a difficult task as the chapters of the book were growing and running out of free space. We decided to build a website that not only presented GMR in its entirety but also created a platform for all spiritual beings to share their experiences and resources. The Spiritual was finally uploaded on 19 November 2004. GMR was also published in a booklet form in 2003 and distributed to select people around the world.
There is no definition of spirituality. There should not be any because a definition starts putting boundaries and meanings around things. The mind, an electro-magnetic sensation over brain cells, thrives on definitions, meanings, concepts, logic and information. It does not have the capacity to actually realize a live event but rather a tendency to "get" or "acquire" the information and crate an impression of "knowledge". Most people think that they "know" things. However, in essence, that knowledge is not the first-hand experience or realization but a collection of information, filtered and sorted to suit individual perceptions and ideals. This very mind is what we know as "me" or "ego". The stronger the existence of thinking mind, harder it is to accept the truth because the ego does not want to diminish its existence. For instance, if Buddha was to come today amond us and say, " I have known the truth", most people will be "eager" to know what that is. No one would want to go through the process that Buddha went through but simply want Buddha to "reveal" what that truth is. Mere words would suffice - that is the nature of the illusory mind, the ego, the "I".
