- My name is Bill Testerman. I was born in 1962 and have always lived in East Tennessee, although in several places within it. I'm somewhat of a fish out of water here with my liberal political views and Agnosticism, not to mention being a sci-fi fan. I grew up in the traditional "nuclear family," with a mother and father, both of whom are still living, and one sibling, a sister four years older than me who now lives in Florida. I had a mostly happy childhood, living in a good family and doing well all the way through school. I always had lots of friends, and had no great traumas to report, though I did have the usual boy problems like vying for position among the other boys in school, and dealing with bullies. In the photo at left is me with one my best childhood friends looking over my shoulder, and judging from the cake this was apparently on my birthday. One of my main memories from childhood is of our swimming pool, which was an in-the-ground concrete pool was that was quite large. It was the focal point of the home in warmer weather, with lots of friends and relatives over to swim all summer, and lots of fun parties there. At resorts nearby I've recently started swimming a lot again, which I had missed much.
