Title

Texas A&M University Emergency Care Team

Description

T A M E C T

The Texas A&M University Emergency Care Team began in 1976 as a student run organization to bring emergency medicine to the University. Beginning in 1980, TAMECT acquired it's first ambulance and was at the time the University's only ambulance service. In the early 1980's, and due to insurance liability, TAMECT was split into two entities. The Emergency Care Team kept its student organization status, and the Texas A&M Emergency Medical Service was formed under Student Health Services which handled the ambulance operations. TAMECT and TAMU EMS keep close relationships and operate out of the A.P. Beutel Health Center.

At present, the Texas A&M Emergency Care Team staffs first aid stations at most major University events including football games, various athletic events, corps FTXs, March to the Brazos, Greek events, and many others. We also provide a large number of training opportunities for our members including First Aid, CPR, Mass Casualty management, scholarships for EMT classes, and many other areas of training. We are an all volunteer student organization committed to providing the best quality emergency medical care to the students, faculty, and friends of Texas A&M.
