Description
Russell Castagnaro, Owner & Vice President
Mr. Castagnaro is the Owner and Vice President of SyncTank Solutions, Inc. of Honolulu, Hawaii. Russell is a Sun Certified Java Programmer and has been architecting and developing Java solutions since Sun first released the JDK 1.0. He designed one of the first Java Servlet based Bankcard sites for AT&T Universal Card Services. He has assisted some of the most visible Internet and Financial Corporations get their Java applications running and performing well.
Russell began software consulting in the early 90's as a Powerbuilder developer. As clients came to require more networked applications and Russell tired of flying around the country for incremental updates, Sun released the Beta release of Java. He took the first class that Sun offered in Java. Two days into the class the JDK 1.0 was released and Russell promised himself that he would not code in PowerBuilder again.
Driven and resourceful, he convinced the consulting company he worked for to allow him to try to find Java projects. It wasn't easy in those early days, but Java Evangelism quickly became a way of life for him. After suffering from early JDK GUI bugs, He turned to server side programming. In 1996, before the Servlet API was out of beta, Russell architected and lead the development of the first major credit card site to utilize server side Java. Pushing the envelope just came naturally to Russell. So he designed and implemented a pure Java web publishing system for Sun Microsystems.
