About Us
Swerbo.com is a San Francisco Bay Area based multimedia blog published by Bill Swerbenski and June Hom. We originally created this website in 1998 to share our personal interests and experiences with friends and family from around the world. Since then, our website has evolved into the audio, video, and photo blog you see today. Slowly, over the years, our collection of online media has grown into a large library of more than one hundred posts covering the incredible experiences we’ve had being a part of the Bay Area community. You can learn more about each of us individually below, and we hope you enjoy our content enough to subscribe to our RSS feeds and podcasts for a long time to come.
Bill Swerbenski grew up in Ithaca, New York, and later graduated with a degree in Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He then moved to San Francisco, California to work for a boutique investment management firm that specialized in developing and operating structured derivative financial products. After working ten years in the financial services industry and attending graduate school for two more, Bill earned an MBA and became a CFA Charterholder in 2001. After nearly five years of partnership and friendship, Bill married June in October 1998 and spent three fantastic weeks honeymooning and rock climbing in Thailand. Bill now works for a well-known financial services firm in the Bay Area and currently holds Series 7, 63, 65, and 24 NASD securities licenses. In his spare time, Bill enjoys photography, videography, and live audio recording projects centered around Bay Area music, life, culture, and events.
June Hom was born in Harlem and spent most of her youth growing up in Yonkers, New York. After graduating with a degree in broadcast journalism, she moved to Manhattan to pursue a career in radio. In 1993, June discovered rock climbing through a friend who took her to the “Gunks” and was forever hooked. June later gained an enormous amount of professional experience in event planning and catering before eventually relocating to San Francisco in 1994, where she focused her career in the nonprofit sector. June now works in the Development Department of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, serves on the Grant Committee of the San Francisco Chapter of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and enjoys volunteering for other Bay Area NGOs including the San Francisco SPCA, where she’s been a part of their Animal-Assisted Therapy Program for more than ten years.
