Fit To Be Tight (FTBT) is a body lotion marketed by Suzanne Somers, who was a TV actress and co-manufacturer of various diet products. FTBT is marketed as a body firming product, which reduces the appearance of cellulite and tightens skin. It’s advertised to create long term results even after use of the product discontinues. FTBT contains a variety of plant and herbs, some of which may moisturize the skin. We will examine the entire mixture closely to determine if the marketed benefits are likely to occur through regular use of this product.

FTBT includes the following supplements in its formula: Boldo Leaves, Walnut Shell Extract, Sunflower Plant Extract, Aloe Vera and Vitamin E.
- Boldo Leaves according to the manufacturer prevent the storage of fat and encourages its elimination, along with increasing the density of the top layer of skin to smooth it out. However, there are no current studies to support this claim.
- Walnut Shell Extract- is included in this formula to create a tint to the lotion. This could darken skin to look similar to a tan when used regularly.
- Sunflower Plant Extract-is full of antioxidants. It’s said to protect hair and skin from “weather damage,” although it is not indicated how this extract performs this task and research is not available to support this claim.
- Aloe Vera - is traditionally a “medicinal” plant. It’s commonly used on skin to treat rashes, burns and wounds. It also may improve the appearance of the skin by providing moisture.
- Vitamin E-is also used to enhance the appearance of skin. It is commonly applied to scars, because it is thought to enhance the skins regeneration process. This too could supply additional moisture for the skin.
