The Friends of Sunkhaze Meadows NWR is a non-profit organization consisting of concerned citizens, outdoor enthusiasts and others who share commitment to its purpose and to programs and activities which, when implemented, will accomplish specific goals and objectives designed to support its mission. The group was formed in 1997.
The Friends of Sunkhaze Meadows NWR views itself in an independent but supportive group charged with promoting the responsible management and use, and inherent value of Sunkhaze Meadows National Wildlife Refuge. A basic belief held by this group is that the people of Maine and elsewhere are concerned about the environment and want to learn how to become better stewards of their natural resources. Given the opportunity, Maine people and others will become active, responsible agents in promoting and maintaining a safe and productive environment.
