- I started out using a Commodore 64 with a 300 baud modem , at that time there were only Bulletin Board Services . I typed in programs I found from magazines and learned basic to begin with.... Im really dating myself now huh ! Eventually, I even taught classes out of our home. I primarily taught our kids and their friends about computers and software, the parents couldnt handle the technology ! I graduated to a 8086 IBM in 1985. It had a METAL Keyboard even ! I started using the Internet in 1985 and I was instantly hooked, although the Internet itself and it's marketing didn't start to catch till 1989.
