Southern Wilderness NZ (and sub-brand Wilderness Guides) is owned and operated by Steve Gibbons and Juliet Jordan. We are born and bred New Zealanders who grew up in Marlborough and developed a passion for the outdoors. We guide many trips ourselves, offering a truly personalized service.
Based in Marlborough (centrally located at the top of the South Island of New Zealand), Southern Wilderness NZ is a guided walk operator while Wilderness Guides offers hiking, biking and sea kayaking in the Marlborough Sounds from its Picton base. Now internationally regarded for its fine wines, this province is in the centre of a wilderness playground from the waters of the Marlborough Sounds to the north to the alpine grandeur of Nelson Lakes National Park and Kahurangi National Park to the west.
Originally formed in 1982, Southern Wilderness NZ (formerly Action In Marlborough) continues a proud tradition associated with the wilderness regions of the top of the South Island of New Zealand. We look forward to introducing you to our special place in the Southern Hemisphere soon!
