Smart Balance® is a brand of condiments, which is best known for its various butter sprays and spreads. The manufacturer behind this brand of food has also posted a public website that addresses the benefits of weight loss and even offers advice on how to achieve results. The company posts various components on the site such as recipes, meal plans and diet tips. The company does recommend incorporating their Smart Balance® products into any weight loss plan. The name of this brand says it all. The company believes that a balance of fats in the diet is necessary, and has even trademarked the saying “Balancing your fats can be important to health™.” We will take a closer look at both the products this company sells and their suggested weight loss program to determine how helpful Smart Balance® may be to consumers wishing to reduce body mass. The president of this company is quoted on the website for saying “that a balanced fat diet, along with other healthy lifestyle factors, can reduce the risk of heart disease.” The website provides visitors with a 7-Day Food Plan that they believe will put consumers on the right track to weight loss. The site also lists advice such as “substituting dessert with fruit” or to “include some sort of moderate activity every day.” Of course, the company does push the use of their products as well. In fact, they suggest to “Substitute Smart Balance Light Buttery Spread on your breads and for light cooking.” All of the Smart Balance® products are said to not contain any hydrogenated oil or trans fatty acids. The company maintains their products consist of “good fat” and that not all fat should be cut from a diet even when attempting to lose fat.
