- Our Sharana Social and Development Organization is a non-profit organization, whose foundational commitment is that all human beings are equal in rights and dignity. We believe in promoting personal development that empowers individuals to improve their living conditions and achieve full self-reliance, while respecting each person’s self-worth (see also the Sharana charter ). In this respect we try and help children who, for one reason or the other, have to work. We are very much opposed to child-labour but, on the other hand, we understand that for a family sometimes there does not seem to be any other solution. Then we come in and help. Sharana puts a special emphasis on providing opportunities for the families so that they can allow the schooling of their children. In pursuing this objective, Sharana works with families in an integral way while providing these opportunities for their children. We support in particular families of very poor communities in their effort at self-improvement.
