Title

Cape Ann Whale Watch, See The Whales

Description

Fred was the pioneer of whale watching in the north of Boston area, and it all began on his small but popular sightseeing tour boat. Back in 1978 Fred was taking Gloucester visitors on trips to watch the local fishermen at work. Whales would often be sighted on these trips, and Fred realized that his passengers were fascinated by these gentle giants of the ocean.

In 1979 Fred brought approximately 600 passengers on designated “whale watching” trips aboard the 42 foot “Daunty” (named for Fred’s father, the fearless “Daunty” Douglass), and the rest is history.

season. The company is now owned and operated son Captain Jim Douglass and his partner Captain Nick Danikas. Cape Ann Whale Watch is the area’s most popular whale watch, and has carried more than half a million passengers to view the whales of Stellwagen Bank. Only our passengers enjoy the unique speed and comfort of the “Hurricane II”, the largest, fastest whale watch vessel in Gloucester. We pride ourselves on providing our passengers with the best possible whale watching experience, and look forward to seeing you aboard this season.
