Ancient History: I started out the the mid 1970's modifying guitars and basses, installing pickups, rewiring, and eventually designing custom internal preamps ...something I may revive in the future. After being charged outrageous prices to get my gear fixed, I decided to learn to do it myself. I ordered schematics for a Fender Bassman and began changing my own tubes, biasing, recapping etc. Musicians began coming to me to repair and maintain their amps .. so my career as a service technician began at that point. I began servicing pedal effects and synthesizers in the late 1970's.
Recent History: In the early 1980's, I started repairing gear part time for several local area music stores and became an authorized service center for a few major manufacturers. Eventually, I began repairing gear full time, expanding my business and servicing 13 area music stores then becoming a warranty service center for 36 major manufacturers. Unfortunately, as the family began to grow, I was forced back into the mainstream and had to scale back my commitment to servicing equipment.
Current: Now, my time is even more limited, but I realized that I had accumulated over 1700 schematics and service manuals over the past 30 years. I figured, if can't devote as much time to repairing as I would like then I could, at least, make them available so others can repair and restore their gear to working operation. Hence, Schematic Connection was created and has been providing quality repair documentation over the past few years.
