- Welcome to saywordradio the station that attempts to restore the balance and regain control of black music. From Jazz to Soul to Hip-Hop Black music has been one the most powerful and unifying elements of our survival in conditions in which others would have been destroyed. Recently Black music (Hip-Hop and in some cases R&B) has become co-opted and the very creativity that once empowered has since been turned into a weapon and used against us. Since the mid 1990's when corporate America found out what a cash cow Hip-hop could be, the African-american community has had little control over the messages that get broadcast over the airwaves. Though the majority of rappers are black, the record labels, radio stations and music channels are owned by people who have no stake in broadcasting balanced music.
