This is a small organisation, one boat, one skipper, and one manning the office, so that quality of instruction, boat maintenance, food and comfort can be easily monitored. Our prices are competitive, because we aim to keep our overheads to a minimum thus providing a cost effective service to our customers.

The Man

The owner and principal of AYE is Sticky Stapylton, a trainer and teacher throughout his life, he is a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) qualified Yachtmaster Instructor, a Yachtmaster Ocean and authorised to teach the Short Range Certificate to qualify students in the use of VHF radio. Sticky has sailed in the South China Sea, the Arabian Gulf, the Red and Mediterranean seas and the Atlantic Ocean. The majority of his sailing has been in the English Channel, with regular trips to south Brittany, the Bristol Channel and Eire.

The Boat

Arrow is an extremely comfortable yacht with plenty of space; eight can dine in the saloon with ease. With the sail plan spread between headsail, staysail, mainsail, and mizzen, the sails, being smaller, are more easily handled than those on a similar size boat with standard Bermudan rig. Additional sails to the standard rig are cruising chute, mizzen staysail, storm jib and trysail. She is licensed to carry 10, but for all events of more than one or two days, the maximum on board will be the skipper and five guests. Although weighing 20 tons, her rig is powerful and gives her a good turn of speed on passage. When the wind drops, and there is a need to make port, her 90 hp engine drives her at a steady speed to her destination.
