We are a leading RYA training centre providing correspondence courses on a worldwide basis plus classroom and practical teaching in the UK. RYA correspondence courses are our principal business.
The ‘Tiller School of Navigation and Seamanship’ was established in 1989 and was one of the first RYA training centres to specialise in correspondence courses. We deliver friendly and professional training for yachtsmen and women and our aim is to provide the 'personal touch' that makes all the difference when studying new subjects.
Our current principal, Andy Thomson, bought the school in 1996 and the correspondence course part of our business has expanded every year. Andy has been sailing since childhood, and owns a Westerly Corsair 36ft sloop which he and his wife sail all over the English Channel and to Spain. He has crossed the Atlantic under sail and is an RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor.
