Terry’s mentoring in the remodeling trades came from his dad, Russ, who taught him a great deal about producing a high quality job, by taking one’s time and “doing-it-right” the first time. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Dakota in 1970 and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from City University, Spokane Branch, in 1989.
Terry joined the US Navy in 1974 and spent 11 years on active duty and then got out, moving back to Spokane in 1984. He spent 11 more years in the US Naval Reserves retiring in April 1999, as a Commander. He spent his last few years traveling once a month to Anchorage, Alaska, to perform his Navy weekends. Terry was a “one-man-show” from 1992-1997 when he decided to grow his company. The growth has been slow and planned. Each year we have added employees to the payroll, which now totals eight people. The employees of Terry’s Quality Service, Inc. play a very important roll in company growth.
We have a Design Consultant, a Production Manager, three Lead Carpenters, an Executive Assistant and of course Terry, who is our Founder & CEO. The most important part of the team is Terry’s wife, Emily, who works hard in the business and puts up with Terry. Our office is currently in the basement of Terry’s home and occupies nearly one half of it! We’ve started to look for a building to renovate to our liking and lease out space to other businesses as well as having space for all our tools and office equipment and a showroom, too. Maybe 2003 will be the year!
