ABOUT US
Kaati-Publisher: The Reggae world is a small world. We are a part of something special. We are musical, health conscious, socially aware, enjoy natural products and lifestyles, we are travelers. We are indeed a Family. In 1994 I started the Reggae Business Association to create a proactive reggae industry networking association. Coincidentally, Reggae Ambassadors Worldwide (R.A.W.) organization started doing the same thing at the same time but on a much larger level, so I turned over my membership list to R.A.W., became a R.A.W. member myself (#111) and Reggae Business Association became a company that specialized in promotions, publicity and marketing. My background is in magazine publishing, so I produced festival programs for awhile and then ultimately, the Reggae Festival Guide magazine. I started the magazine in 1995 with my friend Wanda Whitaker. When I am not working on the Guides (in the Spring I publish a Blues Festival Guide as well as a Reggae Festival Guide), I operate a full-service publicity agency. Most of my clients are festival promoters or labels. Thanks for taking the time to check out my Web site, and I hope that you find it useful for your entertainment planning. Be sure to check back often for festival updates and please don't hesitate to send me comments/suggestions. Email: kaati@reggaefestivalguide.com, or info@reggaefestivalguide.com
Kristine Shaff-Chief Executive Advisor: Kristine is President of the Board for RBA Publishing, and on both of our Festival Guides she has the role of CEA - Chief Executive Advisor - which is just our fancy-schmansy way of saying "chief cook and bottle washer," and has been part of things from day one. She is active in publishing and music, never an artist but always an enthusiast and consummate fan. Whether exploring business trends and analyzing strategies, working the door, driving the band to the next gig, or finalizing editorial late at night on deadline, she's committed to movin' the music forward every time. She brings her extensive background in social psychology and organizational development to building success for RBA Publishing. Peace. Email: kristine@reggaefestivalguide.com
Wendy Russell: Beginning many years ago at the original Wild Blue Yonder in the Tower District in Fresno, CA, Wendy Russell booked reggae and African worldbeat 'live' music throughout that club's five different owners. Through the years many people helped her do over 340 shows in Fresno, bringing such illuminaries as Burning Spear, Pato Banton, Eek A Mouse, Michael Johnson and the Killer Bees, Zulu Spear, Jimmy Cliff, Judy Mowatt of the original I-Threes... the list goes on. Believing with all her heart that reggae's message of peace, love and overstanding could change the world if enough people could hear it, Wendy has been on the airwaves for 6 years playing mostly ROOTS reggae music. She retired from promoting in Fresno to book tours two years for her favorite band, the legendary Twinkle Brothers and now books Tristan Palma and Bernard Collins--and is also back to promoting shows in Fresno, helped by yet another great crew! She also writes monthly columns online at www.ReggaeReview.com on "Fresno Runnins'" and on varied reggae-related issues on www.JahWorks.org and somewhat-monthly in Rootz Timez, printed in San Francisco, along with various free-lance pieces. Plus she contributes a regular Top 10 list printed in Reggae Nucleus magazine, out of L.A., and has Top 10 lists occasionally in Rootz Timez and the online Reggae Report. In between all that, Wendy is a festival organizer for such great festivals as Sierra Nevada World Music Festival in Angel's Camp,CA, Monterey Bay Reggae Fest on the central Californian coast and others. Wendy quotes Bob Marley, (with whom she shares the same birthday), to say; TOGETHER, "we are JAMMIN' in the name of the Lord"! Email: wendy@reggaefestivalguide.com, and editor@reggaefestivalguide.com
