- Jerry Clayton is the voice of Soundcheck Texas, and it's a voice that is familiar to radio listeners across Texas. He's been involved in the radio business since he was a kid. "My mom drove me to my first radio job ... that was over 30 years ago," says Jerry. He was known for years as "Fred Zeppelin" reporting traffic over the crowded San Antonio freeways, and later as an afternoon and morning drive personality. (He still manages to get "high in the sky" regularly in his Cessna 172 Skyhawk.) Jerry's passion for music also extends into performing. He toured with the country group "Mason Dixon" in the 80s, and has played drums for many bands throughout his career. "Bringing the concept of Soundcheck Texas to life is one the coolest things I've ever had the opportunity to do," he says.
