Gale - Primary Source Microfilm - Home
Description
Primary Source Microfilm, an imprint of Thomson Gale, has spent the past 40 years building one of the world's largest microform archives of exclusive primary source materials in subject areas that include the humanities, social sciences and international news. Our purpose has been to provide access to rare, valuable research materials to libraries, independent scholars, faculty and students.
Our work has grown and diversified since our modest beginnings as Research Publications in 1966. During the years, we have developed a broad array of primary source materials, which include such landmark collections as The Times (London), The Sabin Collection, The Eighteenth Century Collection, Music Manuscripts from the Great English Collections and Nineteenth Century and Twentieth Century Legal Treatises.
In 1973, we began filming of the prestigious Goldsmiths'-Kress Library of Economic Literature; in 1974 we initiated filming of The Financial Times. As the 1980s dawned, we joined The Thomson Cor poration, one of the world's leading information and publishing companies. By 1986, Thomson acquiredLost Cause Press and Harvester Press Microform Publications, Ltd., dramatically enlarging our offerings in American and British history and literature..
