The Protium IRC Network - Home
Description
The Protium IRC network was founded upon the principals of an "open air" network. Often times IRC networks find themselves so convoluted in politics, the idea of chat no longer seems viable. Brought together, by mike[F] and CaptKirk` (aka JC) in May 2004, the Protium network aims to change the staff-user relationship. Users are free to register channels and nicknames to their account without the assistance of a staff member. Staff members play an active role in the community, in addition to helping users in need. The network is governed by the "Board of Directors" or BOD, a group of three senior staff members, who oversee the day-to-day operations of the network. Instead of remaining recluse, BOD members chat on network channels, and provide assistance to users.
Protium utilizies the Nefarious IRC daemon, as well as the robust X3 channel services. The development team for Nefarious and X3 can be found on the AfterNET IRC network.
